What the badges ask for
Six of the ten are about turning up: your first puzzle, then ten, fifty and a hundred, then seven days running and thirty. Two are about coverage, one for finishing a puzzle at every size and one for finishing a 30×30 at all.
Only one badge is about speed, a 10×10 inside a minute, and that is deliberate. A wall of speed badges turns a puzzle you were enjoying into a stopwatch, and there is no version of this site where the slow solver is doing it wrong.
The last one comes from the monthly boards: finish all three in the same month and it lights up.
Breaking a run does not take the badge back
The seven-day and thirty-day badges look at your longest run, not the one you are on. Miss a Tuesday after five weeks and the counter at the top starts again, but the badge stays where it is.
The badges are worked out from the times in the table below every time you open this page. Nothing separate is stored for them, so they can never drift out of step with what the table says.
Why there is no leaderboard
This site is a folder of files with nothing running behind it, so there is nowhere for anyone else's times to arrive from. Inventing a field of rivals to rank you against would be easy and it would be made up, so the record here is yours against your own earlier times.
